SYNOPSIS

A man wakes up one morning with an annoying ringing sound in his ears. A note on the fridge says: “your friend Luigi has died. P.S. I took the car.” The first problem is that he has no idea who this Luigi is, but this is just the beginning of a tragicomic day during which he will be plunged into the folly of the world, and which will prove to be one of those days that change you forever.

DIRECTOR’S NOTES

Orecchie is a sort of road movie on foot that follows a guy on a tragi-comic “Way of the Cross” through a Rome viewed in black and white. It is the story of a man without a name who, through a succession of strange encounters, puts together all the pieces of a puzzle that will eventually create a more-or-less coherent image of himself.
It is a comedy about the sense of bewilderment, of being lost, and of detachment from the world around us: a world that often seems crazy, incomprehensible and threatening. It is about our fear of anonymity, and at the same time our desire for it, which are two contradictory impulses in constant conflict within each one of us. It is about the ringing in the ears that we try to ignore every day, by concealing it below the surface of our lives… like dust that we brush under the carpet.
